Lining up his latest offering, label head Secus returns with his debut album titled 'Shadows in Silence,' which unveils a deep dive into his sonic evolution with a curated selection of 8 original works from the past year, plus 2 remixes. The release reflects the shifting textures and hypnotic energy that define his signature sound.
His past productions include contributions to the likes of 6AM Group's Synthetik Sounds, Detroit's Blank Code, Lindsey Herbert's EvilGroove, Vegim's TMMR, and Steve Parker's MUTED rec, to name only a few.
Blurring the lines between driving techno and immersive atmospherics, the album moves through intricate rhythms, layered harmonics, and a sense of tension that builds and releases across each track. Adding further depth to the project, remixes from SOLëM and Declan James offer fresh interpretations, pushing the sound into new territories.
"Fate" is a trippy and moody, esoteric vibe, made of electronic pulses and swaying frequencies.
"Embers" uses a broken beat as an enticing groove, and bass howls add a haunting atmosphere.
Third up, "Disruption of Change" goes straight for the jugular, where expansive, skittering drums climax with immense drum clatters and delayed claps for a tremendously satisfying ride.
Fourth is "Reflection," and it reintroduces a stuttering main rhythm with chopping fundamentals and jabbing synth stabs for a dystopian and cinematic feeling.
Title track, "Shadows in Silence" has a relentless and fervent drive, and modular bleeps gleam as a contrasting tone to the punishing percussion.
"Whispers Fate" is a raw and hypnotic masterclass of purist, heady sound design, with twisted chimes among a cyclical lilt.
The jackin' hits of "Neglect" meet droning keys like a shrouding veil of smoke that together create a beautiful intensity.
"Vanishing Point" is a wild exploration of sound, with a flickering sub bass pushing it to a new level of vigour as electronic elements complete its supreme depth in style.
The first of two remixes sees SOLëM create an eerie timbre of jarring metallics and an abstract production twist for his "Neglect" reinterpretation.
Declan James softens the fierceness of "Disruption of Change" by harnessing a dubby groove and focusing on spacey, sci-fi influences.
This album is both a reflection of the changes in life and as a producer in the past year as well as a step forward to new sounds—grounded in the ethos of Rituals and the ever-evolving vision of Secus.
