A world that waits inside of me.

Faces form and disappear,

Voices whisper things I fear.

A staircase leads to nowhere known,

A distant voice becomes my own.

The walls dissolve, the clocks unwind,

And I fall inward through my mind.

Am I awake, or am I gone?

Is this the night, or just its dawn?

Where does the dream begin to grow,

And where does waking cease to know?

Oh, Hypnagogia, veil so thin,

The universe beneath my skin.

A fleeting realm, a sacred haze,

Where time dissolves and thought decays.

And when the morning calls my name,

I'll wake, but nothing feels the same.

For somewhere in that twilight sea,

A dream still dreams inside of me.
